Study on an artwork
M Leuven turns an artwork into a revision space
It’s one of M’s annual traditions: welcoming students during the revision period. Students looking for a quiet place to study will find one at the museum from Monday 3 to Sunday 16 June. This year, we are offering them a totally unique space: they can revise on the artwork ‘Concrete, Concrete’ by Sarah Smolders.
For a fortnight, we will be transforming one of the rooms in the Sarah Smolders exhibition into a quiet study spot.
‘The students can use the space that is often nicknamed the ‘tower room’ because it’s at the very top of the museum. If they want to look around, they can scrutinize Sarah Smolders’ hand-painted stones or search for the spire of St Peter’s Church. But not for too long, of course. (laughs),” says Bert Cornillie, Alderman for Culture and Chairman of M’s Board.
Revising and relaxing in the museum galleries
A total of 40 students per day can find a quiet place to study in the museum’s highest room, with a view of the City Hall, the spire of St Peter’s Church and M’s garden. The silent space is equipped with internet, those all-essential power outlets and unlimited chilled water – bring your own drinking bottle. During the breaks, M provides relaxing activities, from yoga sessions in the museum garden to slow-art tours of the ‘Alias’ and ‘DOKA’ exhibitions. The activities last approximately 20-minutes and are completely optional. Students can also visit the exhibitions free of charge and at their own pace. It is not possible to reserve spots. Students can register for a place on the day itself.
