Line-up complete! Counting down to M-IDZOMER!

With just under two months until our four-day festival begins, we are finalising the line-up of artists to the M-IDZOMER programme. The laureates of Sound Track - the stage and opportunity project for artists with talent and ambition - will have their own stage at our multidisciplinary festival. M-resident Tom Hallet takes you into his visual universe and lets you enjoy a performance with violinist and dancer and if you want some magic, turn to the cinematic oracle of Telemagic. Hip-hoppers Don Lario and HYGRA provide extra summer vibes with their arty, Spanish-inspired setlist. Just under two months to go before the eleventh edition of M-IDZOMER takes off. Let the countdown begin!

The line-up for M-IDZOMER 2022 is now complete. Son Lux, Buffalo Tom, Tindersticks and Intergalactic Lovers are headlining our festival. ILA, Bert Dockx, Mooneye, Kurt Overbergh, Naima Joris, Isbells, Sohnarr, Camille Camille, Black Sea Dahu, Ruben Block, Meskerem Mees, Sylvie Kreusch and Tsar B also descend on our festival site.

M-IDZOMER provides a podium to the laureates of Sound Track - a stage and opportunity project co-organised by Het Depot and VI.BE. You can see some great winners at work throughout the festival on the 'Sound Track Stage'. At the party: Bobbi Lu, Sevens, Porcelain id, Cesar Quinn, BLUAI and Nona Problemo!

M Leuven also offering up-and-coming talent a stage in the form of hip-hop duo Don Lario and HYGRA. The set list is inspired by artworks from M’s collection presentations. Tom Hallet makes you think about representation, social constructions and history through his large-scale drawings, new sculptures, flesh-coloured sculptures and performance with dancer and violinist. Telemagic's cinematic oracle conjures up video artworks, follow in the footsteps of the guinea pigs in the group exhibition 'The Ten', discover regional talent in 'Open M' or Wael Shawky's colourful installations, mysterious puppets and magical films, and finish with Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa's dreamlike artworks with a humorous, playful or absurd slant.

"With this line-up and indoor programming, this M-IDZOMER edition promises to be a great one. M Leuven gets the summer off to a festive start with the opening of the new museum shop and coffee bar. Besides this new meeting place in M, new talent also gets the chance to show what they can do thanks to Het Depot. Het Depot and M Leuven complement each other well as partners, as does the line-up and indoor programming. M-IDZOMER is a wonderful example of a strong initiative brought about by two strong partners," says Denise Vandevoort, alderman for culture and chairwoman of the board of M.

"At the last edition of M-IDZOMER in 2019, we had a LOOF! stage, where we gave the participants of our songwriters' camp a place on the stage. This year, we will do a variation on that and present a selection of the laureates of Sound Track, Het Depot's talent development project, as well as colleagues from the club circuit and VI.BE. It is definitely worth coming to enjoy the young talent between the big acts," says Mike Naert, general and artistic director of Het Depot.

Peter Bary, general manager of M Leuven, adds: "During M-IDZOMER, M offers an extensive indoor programme and numerous activities are planned in addition to M-IDZOMER as part of the 'Summer of M. Throughout July and August, M opens its doors free of charge every Thursday evening, with an afterwork in the ZoMerbar and free live performances by INUIT. Every weekend, except during M-IDZOMER, families can enjoy free creative activities in the Museumspelstraat. M will say goodbye the summer with a great final party. A summer full of music and art, that's all you need."
