Last chance: closing weekend of Huma Bhabha’s ‘LIVIN’ THINGS’ at M Leuven is approaching

The first European monograph on the Pakistani-American artist’s work is now available

The weekend of 28 and 29 October is the last opportunity to see ‘LIVIN’ THINGS’ at M Leuven: Huma Bhabha’s first solo exhibition in a Belgian museum. The exhibition is a collaboration with MO.CO. Montpellier Contemporain, where Huma Bhabha’s work will be on display from 18.11 to 28.01.2024. MO.CO has also published a monograph on Huma Bhabha’s work, made possible with the support of M Leuven. The catalogue is now available.

Huma Bhabha

The exhibition at M follows on from Huma Bhabha’s impressive presentations at the Venice Biennale (2015), MoMA PS1 (2012) and her first solo European exhibition at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (2020), amongst others. In 2018, Huma Bhabha stunned New York and, by extension, the rest of the world with ‘We Come in Peace’, her installation of two colossal bronze creatures in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s roof garden. M presents a broad selection of Bhabha’s work, including her well-known androgynous totem figures, powerful busts and layered works on paper. The exhibition is a collaboration with MO.CO. Montpellier Contemporain, where Huma Bhabha’s work will be on display from 18 November 2023.

Monograph

To coincide with the exhibition, MO.CO, with the support of M Leuven, has produced the first European monograph on Huma Bhabha’s work. The richly illustrated catalogue is published in French and English by Uitgeverij Snoeck. Atelier Tout va bien were responsible for the design and the texts were written by the general director of MO.CO, Numa Hambursin, and independent curator Eva Barois De Caevel. The publication also includes an interview with Huma Bhabha by Vincent Honoré, curator and head of exhibitions at MO.CO.
